Pima Air and Space Museum

02 Mar

The Pima Air and Space Museum

is one big museum. I toured this museum a year ago in April while taking vacation in Arizona. And that is where you will find it, just outside of Tuscan Arizona. Check out the website.

Just about every vacation I take I end up at one of these types of outtings. There is always an air and space museum to visit and for as long as I can remember and as young as I recall, we (family, friends, etc) have found something like this on every trip. Or we planned for one. And if there was an airshow anywehre within a hundred miles of where I lived, we’d go to that. It is much like that family that stops at every roadside “Point of Interest” marker so as not to miss out on that little morsel of history.

I am always fascinated by these birds. I have many friends who either fly the newer models or have flown them before they retired.

In almost all cases they love or loved their jobs.

One of my friends participated in the “Turkey Shoot” back from Kuwait to Iraq and he still isn’t quite right from all the death and destruction they caused.

In many ways we are fortunate to see all kinds of aircraft where I live. Pretty cool too!!!!

The soul purpose of the B-58 Hustler was to fly fast and drop nuclear bombs. To use the language of the day, this plane caused the rooskies some sleepless nights. It had a short service life because of high cost, and the venerable B-52 turned out to be more practical. Thanks for sharing.

I love that shape. It was the first model I ever put together.
