The Road To The Stars

There’s nothing real “wow” about this image because I had nothing in the foreground, such as a cabin, tent, or anything of interest. I was looking for the north star in that massive star filled sky. I acquired the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer and it had not been out of the box but 48 hours so I had yet to learn to set it up. It’s not difficult and I have the needed apps. But when new at something, it takes some learning. For the fun of it, I set up my other tripod and grabbed some shots just to see what I’d get out there. The first is is a six second shot facing north at Big Bend National Park. The second is a Milky Way image shot as is (on tripod) with Star Watcher set up yet. I shot these at “Dugout Wells”. There was no one out there. A windmill behind me squeaked in the breeze. I did shoot more Milky Way photos, those in a private gallery. But a couple images here as test shots.

God created this!

Summer Nights

Hot summer nights I might add.

The windows rolled down, a warm breeze, the day closes with an order of Cherry Lime Aide and tots.  Sometimes, and very rarely, it’s a rootbeer float.  A black and white cat walks across the lot toward a car that apparently leaves treats for it.  The Sonic Cat is what I’ve always called him.   Another pick-up truck pulls up.

A carhop skates by to Sara Evan’s latest tune.  He long brown ponytail is pulled through the back of her cap and a few strands shimmer in the lights.  Her red tray is loaded with a family’s supper and she carefully reaches each bag to the window.  A young couple sit at the center table playing footsies, giggling, and slurping on their cokes.

The Kid yawns.  A bite of my last tot is taken and the other half tossed into the paper bag.  I wipe the smeared catchup from my wrist as we slowly back out of our space with the windows still rolled down.

“I don’t really know how I got here
But I’m sure glad that I did
And it’s crazy to think that one little thing
Could’ve changed all of it”

Five On Monday

Monday Five Countdown (from the Delightfully Sweet Life Blog)

Five Things I’m Grateful For
1. Springtime and not having allergies to much of anything. I can stand in a field of pollination and not sneeze.

2. My flexible job.

3. Darkness at 7 a.m. I like that the day wakes up an hour later.

4. My garden. This is our third year in this home and slowly but surely all the work we are putting into the yard and gardens is starting to show nicely.

5. For my church family and for a Pastor who tells it like it is. God is love.

Four Things I Can’t Stop Thinking About
1. Riding my horse. I need to be riding daily but the wind is just terrible.

2. The tax man. Oh how I dread this season so.

3. My grandmother. How I miss her so and wish I would have paid a visit this weekend. By we all had bad colds and I don’t dare take them on my travels and share them.

4. My iris. They will all be in bloom next month.

Three Things I Want To Accomplish This Week
1. Getting taxes all squared away.

2. The huge homework assignment that I have due at the end of the week.

3. Send some handwritten letters out to a few friends and family members.

Two Things I Am Working To Be Positive About
1. Having a party for my two year old. I am really stressing out about this.

2. Getting my car serviced and some extras needed for it.

One Random Thing
1. This world we live in is a crazy place. But I care not to be of this world, rather just in it during my time here sharing God’s message.

The Moment

It was just one of those moments that afternoon in Gainesville—a kairos moment. But isn’t it always when taking a photo? In the now? For one cannot photograph the past or the future.

This photo is the third photo of the year for the 365-2011 project. Some days, I just don’t know what to shoot. There is always the sky.
