One Long Summer

24 Aug

It seems like it’s going by fast.  Yet when I look back over the past two months, it feels like Summer has been here a year.  Most of the season has exceeded 100 degrees.

Road trips are not as frequent when it’s so hot.  In fact, I haven’t been to Hagerman Wildlife Refuge much.  Even the nights are hot.  Yet I have planted my Iris last weekend for the Spring.  I’ve ordered Daffodil bulbs.  I want to plant a fall garden but I’m not sure anything would survive once it popped out of the ground.  Maybe beans would.  Maybe black eyed peas.

September offers some new opportunities.  A new camera is on order  The days are getting shorter and hopefully cooler.  A weekend in Oklahoma is on the calendar in two weeks.  Maybe another later in the month further northeast.

Definitely some black-eyed peas! That’s a striking photograph. Clean lines, green field. Child at play.

Jack, that field is across the road from my Gramma’s house. This year it was beans, next year it will be corn.

Beautiful. I’m sorry you’ve had such a hot summer (my sister’s just returned from a trip to the States and was staying in Plano at one stage of it). Here in the UK, we’ve had very little summer at all. A couple of warm weeks maybe, with dullness and coolness in amongst it. We might get another week of ‘summer’ in September or October and then it’ll be back to a dreary winter. Still, I can look at your photos. 🙂
