Caddo Lake State Park, Texas

13 Jul

A natural lake in Texas!

It is a bit warm to be there right now but Caddo Lake is one that we certainly want to return to.  In fact, the area is under a burn ban.

A most beautiful area of lush vegetation and bald cypress trees, we are able to fish, canoe, camp, hike, and simply enjoy the sounds of nature.

Maybe this fall…

I’ve long been in love with cypress and spanish moss. Lovely photo.

Sounds wonderful. The play of light in the photo is wonderful.

Beautiful! (What is hanging from the trees, the pale stuff? Is it blossom or dead leaves, or what?

Val, I believe that is Spanish moss that you are referring to hanging from those trees.

Bobby, if there are any gators, they are small. We didn’t see any. But I was rather nervous when we were out on the the water in the canoe.

Oooh… reminds me of some of my favourite paintings by George Rodrigue.

There are indeed gators at Caddo Lake SP. They even sell t-shirts at the ranger station. If you’d like to see a picture: http://2011.walktx.org/CaddoLake/
