Friendship

26 Apr

From the Mayo Clinic
What are the benefits of friendships?

Good friends are good for your health. Friends can help you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times. Friends prevent loneliness and give you a chance to offer needed companionship, too. Friends can also:

Increase your sense of belonging and purpose
Boost your happiness
Reduce stress
Improve your self-worth
Help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job loss or the death of a loved one
Encourage you to change or avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as excessive drinking or lack of exercise

Friends are fun to chase, share a bowl of food, and enjoy a lazy Sunday laying on the porch.

I have a magnet on my fridge that shows a Border Collie looking out from behind a man’s legs. The quote is: “The best word for a friend is ‘stay’. My best girlfriend just got relocated for work and is leaving. I’m sad but happy for her. My English Shepherd loves the kitty next door…and so did my terrier. Strange, that, as they usually will chase or herd or hunt them. They play together, as such, with kitty rubbing all up against the dogs and the dogs licking the cat. Funny to watch.

G, these two are real friends. Play, chase, chew, snuggle, growl and fuss. But in the end, they eat out of the same dish.

I like that quote “The best word for a friend is ‘stay’.”

My snowcat wants nothing to do with my 2 year old. But these two friends in the photo above allow him to learn to be a friend to animals.

My terrier/doxy mix does not care for the cat and terrorizes it despite the fact that the cat is bigger. My doxy is different, tho, he likes the cat and they often play together or cuddle.

friendship is more precious than love because it takes two to make it work.
