Assumption, Illinois

02 Apr

Good eats in Assumption, Illinois. I’ve been through this town a dozen times but don’t know much about it except that the food served at the Dinner Bucket is good. I did find an interesting place to visit on the web where you can read about the history of Assumption.

“Dinner bucket”? Is that what they call a “feed bag” in Illinois?

Whatever, it looks like the sort of plain-jane place that makes up for a lack of ambiance with to-die-for food. I like those sorts of places. 🙂

S, you nailed it. Nothing fancy inside at all. Lot’s of local families coming in; it’s a place where everyone knows everyone else. And the food….oh my goodness, so good.

Some places have such curious names. Very unassuming-looking place, maybe that’s what’s needed for good food?

A lot of the best restaurants are those tiny, hole-in-the-wall places. I love places like that-

Val, I always wondered about that name Assumption. As for the restaurant, I may have to call the restaurant and ask the owner about the name.

Lori, I think the best food is served in places like this.
