The road was very rough once past the gate. The jeep managed the terrain as it should. The afternoon was pleasantly warm but we couldn’t wait to get to the water. The ice chest was full of our favorite snacks and beverages–particularly the fabulous cheese and Fetzer wine from the nearby vineyard. Once parked, we realized we were alone. The kids scrambled out of the vehicle and headed straight for the rock. We arranged a few blankets on the ground and prepared for a relaxing afteroon on Cave Creek. M turned up the classic rock station. For the remainder of that Saturday afternoon, while three kids splashed around in the creek, we did nothing more than bask in the afternoon California sun waiting for nothing to happen.
