Flowery Statistics

05 Jun

Working in the senior living industry I often pick up publications to stay in tuned to the latest trends. This post is in no way intended to recruit more people to the field of nursing but good grief, look at these statistics and tell me there won’t be a need for nurses in the next quadrillion years (US Census Bureau).

The number of people 65 and older in the United States on July 1, 2007 was 37.9 million. This age group accounted for 13 percent of the total population. Between 2006 and 2007, this age group increased by 635,000 people.

In the year 2050 it is projected the population of seniors in the US will reach 88.5 million.

Holy dentures, on the planet there is a projected 518 million older folks (65 and older) by 2009.
