Collinsville, Texas

31 May

From time to time I will pick up a copy when in town of the Whitesboro News Record when fueling up at Clinnons. Over the course of four years before the change in management of the paper, many of the articles written were about Collinsville. One of the journalists live there and picked up stories: sports, crime, traffic accidents and Mrs. Smith’s apple pie recipe. In fact if you might beleive you were reading the Collinsville Press which doesn’t exist. Every town has a story to tell. Might as well do it in someone else’s publication.

This photo was shot the other evening on my route north through Collinsville. It is an old fillin’ station where the pumps stand rusty each with its own story. I must wait for a day to shoot much closer because one must have the proper light and time of day to shoot and old rusty gas pump.

I like old-timey filling stations. Few to be found now and what is left the pumps removed. I like this with the evening B&W sepia look. Very nice.

My mother grew up in Collinsville. What time period were these articles written about Collinsville in the Whitesboro News? I would love to read them.
