Two Geldings

29 May

Monday. A pleasant and warm day for a walk. It was more of a hike really along old paths choked be overgrown vegetation. We wandered into the far north pasture that is more forest now than open field. There is a gully that runs along the fence and we found a path that was created by run off from recent rains.

The horses were at the gate when we got started on our walk to the pond. About three quarters there R discovered that Rumor was following us. She’s an old dog–a Taco Bell dog that will beg to be picked up and carried back because she’s too tired. We turned around and headed back to the house. Almost there she we cut to the right and she went on up to the gate sniffing every bit of ground.

The horses don’t follow into the forest although there is evidence that they spend time in the cool shade in places where the trees allow them to stand. They will stand nearby grazing waiting for us. Up until last year we rode them into the far north pasture. The trails now need to be cleared.

This is Carter and Renegade in this photo.

Sounds like a wonderful place. Love your horses. I’ve never owned a horse and have never ridden a horse, but I sure admire them.
