I lived in Olney. Olney, Maryland that is, for one year. It was cold that winter and the summer was a scorcher. Hot and humid. It’s a different Olney than Olney, Texas.
Olney’s all but 2 square miles. Roundups were held annually here back in the early days. It’s seen oil, rail, and a really bad tornado. Today it’s a busy little town of about 3500 people. Two I met on my travels en route to Lubbock. These two men were born in Olney, rode bulls in Olney, worked their whole lives in Olney. “There’s a lot here if you stick around long enough to see it.”
I wish I could have spent the day with these two fellows. They drove off in their pick up headed somewhere.
