It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. The sun was warm, the wind a bit nippy but blowing from the south. A windbreaker with a hood would suffice. I had heard about the place on Facebook. No research was done. We hopped in the truck and drove to Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch.
Although he is not quite 2, J seemed to enjoy the animals and didn’t fuss a bit especially when face to face with this camel on the tram ride. He seemed to like the Lemurs and reached out to touch the tail of one being carried by the handler.
I’ve always wanted to know what a bearcat is since there are many high schools in the region who use them as their mascot. It is a Binturong. I wonder how many high school students know this fact.
Satudays are the public days a this animal ranch in Pilot Point, Texas. It makes for a nice family outing.

Sounds like a lovely day. I always enjoyed taking Jamie to see the animals when she was little, she used to laugh so much.

I love the symetry of the camel’s nose and lips. The nose looks like a smaller version of the lips. I think I already knew that camels could shut their noses, but this picture brings that home.

Great picture of Regan. JUST KIDDING! I love it, though, another great blog. And thanks, I had no clue what a bearcat was and… I still don’t.
